I was able to accomplish quite a bit to put my mind at ease somewhat at work today. I didn't have as many meetings as usual, which was nice. I'm feeling a little better about things and will feel better tomorrow early because I like to get to work super early when nobody can talk to me and I can't talk to them! :) hahaha Cailean called me towards the end of my day to tell me he had to head into work a lot earlier than expected to work nightshift plus a few more hours. So, I had to leave early to get Gavin and then go straight to Kingswood to pick up Ian. I'm glad I did some cleaning last night because it's not really happening now! After Kingswood we went over to mom's and hung out there and had dinner. Pam and her friend stopped by and that was nice.
Gavin is sound asleep right now and Ian is awake in his bed. I'm about to just start vacuuming because I'm shocked he is still awake right now! We've got some family arriving at different times tomorrow plus I work and then Ian has his Spring Fling.
We've been reviewing the states the last few nights and Ian has been able to identify them on the map. He is doing well when I say, "What state is north of Florida and south of South Carolina?"

Are you keeping up with us?? :)
Lots going on right now. Cailean has been working lots of OT and keeping up with the yard. I'm swamped at NCSU right now with finishing up end of the year reports, concluding the academic year, revamping a program and getting ready for the summer and fall. Of course all at once. It used to be a routine the last six years, but programs are changing and drastic improvements are being made.
Throw in Gavin's and Ian's end of year events at school and we have some fun times in Cary! LOL Gavin had his lunch bunch yesterday. It's a fundraising event that parents should attend. If not, then their kids run free with no parental supervision! So, I was able to make that event after volunteering in Ian's classroom. Gavin enjoyed two slices of pizza, some fruit and dessert! He sat next to his buddy Connor. He didn't really sing the song with the other kids when he stood up front. I was in the front row trying to get his attention, but he didn't see me until after.
Ian's school is having Spring Fling Friday night. Should be a fun time! It'll be a late night for the boys, too. It's similar to a mini carnival I guess. First time for us! Music, food, games, dunking booth, silent auctions and a fire truck. It's also the Book Fair. His class will be going Friday, so hopefully Cailean can meet him there and buy some new books!

The weekend, visitors and more to come!
Sunday morning was church and Sunday School, then lunch and home to change and off to mom's earlier than normal. My cousin Keith, his wife Jen and 2 1/2 year old son Cameron were coming to spend the night. They are from Long Island and flew down to South Carolina for a few nights, drove to Charlotte for a night and then headed here for a night before flying out of Raleigh to head back home. I was determined to have Cameron like me! LOL I actually got to hold him a few times and play peek-a-boo. He was laughing. But, Ian and Gavin stole the show once again with him. The three were beyond cute together. They were chasing each other around and Cameron was laughing and laughing and laughing! He had a few firsts while he was with us. He sat at a kids table and he had a popsicle!!! :) Great job Cam! They stayed at mom's for the night to spend time with Mimi and Pop-pop. After Ian went to school this morning, Gavin and I went back over to hang out for a little bit and then we led them to the car rental and airport. The boys already miss Cameron!
This afternoon dad booked his ticket to come down to see us May 27-31! I noticed the cheap tickets this morning, so called dad on it. Ian was running around yelling, "Grandpop is coming down!!! We get to go ride gokarts at Frankie's!" That seems to be a ritual every May when Grandpop comes down!
We have a big weekend coming up...IAN TURNS SIX!

There is always something new
So, we moved to the backyard to play some soccer. Gavin joined in on the fun and the next thing we know we are trying to take the ball away from each other. Well, Ian took the ball away from Gavin. Gavin stood there and screamed as loud as he could. Then, ran to Ian and pushed him to the ground.
As I observed this situation I thought, "He has a lot to learn from now until next spring when he can play soccer on a team. He better not do that to his teammates or to his opponents!!!!" Can you imagine? Some kid takes the ball away from Gavin??? He will tackle him to the ground for doing that!!!!

Catching up with some pictures and video clips
So today was interesting in Ian's classroom! I was there a little earlier than normal and watched them during carpet time. They were going over the 'it' word family. So, kids could raise their hands and give a word with 'it' in it. Keep in mind that the class has been working on blends like "sh and ch"...so yes, Ian was called on and guess what word he told the teacher? SH----IT!!!!! Yes, CAILEAN'S SON swore! However, Ian had NO clue he had just said a swear word. A bunch of the kids were laughing and telling Ian that he swore and then looking at me to see what I would do or say. I remained calm and pretended he didn't say that word and didn't want to make a scene. But, he didn't get it at all! So, the teacher covered it up and said that he said SPIT. Oh boy!!!!!! But, I know that Ian was thinking, "No, I didn't say SPIT. I said ____." LOL UGH!!!
I had staff meeting this afternoon and I was given an award for going above and beyond with work in our program. The staff was able to nominate people in our department and give a brief summary to support that person. I guess a few people submitted my name, so that was neat. I was very, very red! Normally, the award is announced at the banquet in April...but guess who missed the banquet this year??? Yes...ME! We were at Disney! So, they thought it would be a little weird making the announcement knowing I was not there to receive it!
Ian had a soccer game tonight and played great! Go SHARKS!

Wolfpack Weekend
Sunday morning we went to church, then Sunday School and then raced home to change into our NCSU gear (Gavin wore a NCSU baseball jersey with his hat while Ian had a white/red NCSU shirt and his hat) and head over to the baseball field. It was a tutor appreciation event prior to the game and then we had tickets for them to enter the game. I had a lot of no shows (argh), but we stayed for the first three innings. The boys brought their gloves and they sooooooooo wanted to catch a ball. Oh well! Left there, went home to take care of Cody and then over to mom's for dinner.

Picnic at the Park
It's that time of year with end of the year stuff at work and with the kids' schedules at school...concerts, spring events, fundraising events and I have not even started shopping for Ian's birthday party supplies. I know...so not like me!!!! That is my goal for this weekend!
Tomorrow is Ian's first soccer game. His first 2 practices were rained out, then we had one practice. We missed the next two due to Disney. UGH. So, we'll see how tomorrow goes!

Disney was WONDERFUL and we were chosen as a Magical Family!!!!!!
Saturday night Gavin got sick and sounded terrible at night. During the day he was okay (not his normal self and obviously off schedule with sleep, so it was hard to tell what was going on with him). We went swimming in one of their four pools at the Summer Bay Resort. While there, a Jimmy Buffet wannabe was playing some great tunes. The music, the nice weather, swimming outside, the tiki bar...ahhhhh...it reminded me of Aruba and Puerto Rico!
Sunday morning we took our time and then headed over to Fort Wilderness to meet up with Cailean's brother (Eric), his wife and daughter. They were spending the same week as us at Disney, but had their camper in Fort Wilderness. Cailean's parents were there spending the night with them, so they could see us. We went out on speed boats and went right in front of the hotels and Magic Kingdom. Ian and I got stranded in the middle and had to wait for the lifeguard to restart the motor!! LOL They went on pony rides, took bike rides, drove around on the golf cart and then we ended up at the campfire and sing-a-long with Chip n Dale! It was soooooooo much fun!
Monday late morning we went back over to Fort Wilderness to hang out there and then we said goodbye to Duncan and Joyce. You'll have to check out the tons of pictures I took to see what we did and where we went! LOL
We were supposed to go to Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, but the weather didn't cooperate and also Gavin wasn't getting any better. We decided to take it easy in the morning and then drive around. We ended up at a petting farm and took the tour that lasted for over 3 hours. The kids milked a cow...we watched Cailean and other parents chase ducks and chickens and every other animal around, so the kids could pet them. They held baby ducks, pet and fed sheep and goats and went on a train ride and it was just a lot of fun!
Then we decided to go to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday. Well, at 4:55am (my alarm went off) we decided not to go because Gavin had another rough night and we knew it was time to take him to Urgent Care. So, Gavin and I were gone most of the morning at the Urgent Care and then Walgreens to get his prescription. Cailean stayed back at the timeshare with Ian and played tennis and basketball along with feeding fish and taking walks. We were very relieved that Gavin was seen and was put on an antibiotic. After lunch we met up with Eric, Michele and Sarah at Blizzard Beach Mini Golf place at Disney. That was a lot of fun and Cailean and I are way too competitive! I lost (argh), but we better play soon because I think he cheated on the scoresheet! The course was absolutely incredible and there was one hole with Santa sleeping and you could hear him snore. Ian was freaked out because he thought it was real. Gavin goes up and hits him (the Santa and not Ian!!!) and then Ian joins in. GREAT. I think Eric got that on video! LOL At another hole, as you crossed over the bridge, two fish squirt you...LOL...totally caught Ian off guard because he went first!!!Then, we all headed down to Downtown Disney and walked around there. The kids went on a few rides and then we headed back to the timeshare.
Thurday at 4:55am came very fast. We were on the road headed over to Fort Wilderness at 5:45am! Eric met us at the parking lot and he took us to the boat. We had connections for the Magic hour, so we were able to go to Magic Kingdom at 7am and it doesn't open to the public until 8am. Very nice! Hard to believe we were there at the sunrise!!! Anyway, Cailean and I had our list and our plan of where to go, what to do, what to go on first, second, third, etc. We weren't running, but we were definitely walking fast. I finally said, "How can people think Disney is a vacation when you are sprinting from one ride to the next?!" But, there is definitely something magical at Disney because we were all soooooooo happy and just had lots of laughs and had a blast!!! We did pretty much everything on our LONG list and then took the monorail around. Well, we asked to sit with the pilot and that was sooo cool!!! The kids received co-pilot licenses from Pilot Bill! Then we took the boat back over to Fort Wilderness and had dinner at the camper and then headed back to our resort. Wow! What an awesome day!!!!! Lots of memories.
Friday morning we hung around the resort. We went on a bike ride and then Eric, Michele and Sarah came over to hang out for a little bit. Then we went swimming for the afternoon, packed and then headed back over to Fort Wilderness for the sing-a-long...
So, there we were...sitting on a bench in the middle...right on the aisle, so we could watch Chip n Dale walk down the aisle to the front...a few minutes before the show was going to start...two employees came up to us because they chose us to be the MAGICAL FAMILY OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!! Each night at this campfire they choose a family. There are a couple hundred people at this campfire, so the chances of getting picked is pretty slim.
That's a pretty big deal to the kids who just LOVE Chip n Dale! There were a couple hundred people there and they chose US???!!! Amazing!!!!!!! We were all in shock! So, they blocked off our bench to make sure nobody took our spots and escorted us to the back. The kids got to hang out and have quality time with Chip n Dale! They signed Ian's autograph book and we took a lot of pictures. The ONE time we didn't bring our video camera and same with Eric and Michele!!! The guitar guy announced that Chip n Dale were going to be escorting the Turner Family from Cary, NC to their seats was pretty neat!!!! Oh yes...Chip took Ian on "paw" and Gavin on the other "paw" while Dale took Sarah down the aisle to our seats. Eric, Michele, Cailean and I followed behind. It was definitely a honor and soooo cool!!!! It was cute to see Ian, Gavin and Sarah play with Chip n Dale! The looks on their faces were priceless when they saw that we were chosen!
We woke up bright and early today (on the road at 4:50am) and drove straight home. I think we got home by 2pm and unpacked. The boys and I jumped in my car while Cailean mowed the front and headed over to mom's to see my grandparents, Aunt Cindy and Aunt Sandi. Mom was flying back from VT tonight, so we didn't see her. The kids did Easter eggs with their two great aunts and I watched my grandmother make my FAVORITE food: 24 hour fruit salad!!!! Can't wait for the Easter dinner tomorrow!!!!
Here's the link to the pictures...there are a lot of photos, but each one is priceless and I cannot wait to scrapbook this trip!!!!!!!!!!!

New Look
So, no sneakers for the boys. If they were girls, then tons to choose from. Boys...no choice! They had NO sneakers in Ian's size. Very limited and I don't care for velcro sneakers. We'll take a look in Orlando when we head to the outlets (a good excuse to GO to the outlets). :)
Mission accomplished with Ian's haircut. We didn't have to wait long at all. Then, picked up dinner and went to mom's. Hung out there for a little bit and went to soccer practice. With practice starting at 6:45pm...it was weird to be out that late with the boys! Especially when they are used to going to bed around 7:15pm or so. LOL Ian had his fan club at practice. Gavin, Cailean, me (of course...assistant coach again!), my mom, my grandparents and Uncle Mickey.
Cailean is working an unexpected 16 hour shift today. The boys decorated Easter eggs after school today and so then the Easter bunny can hide them the night we return from Florida. They ate a great dinner, relaxed and went to sleep at a decent time tonight.
