Where did June go?

I had to be a bit organized this morning with what we needed to take with us because I knew we would be gone all day. Ian woke up with no problem this morning! The tooth fairy came to visit him. He lost a tooth at Bob Evans yesterday and Leslie, the manager, celebrated with giving the boys each an ice cream sundae. hahaha Ian was loving it and so wasn't Gavin. In fact, Gavin was trying to convince us he had a loose tooth.

Anyway, had to wake Gavin up to get him in the car and head to his Mimi's house for Camp Mimi. It was going to be an early start because Ian needed to be at the baseball field by 8am. Ian was actually really excited about going, which is very opposite of how he can be when it comes to camps. I introduced him to one of the players and told the guy to keep an eye out on my son! LOL LOL

Mom, Linda, Pop-pop and Gavin met me at the ballpark and I signed Gavin out and turned him over to mom. Then, back to the townhome they went and then jumped into the pool while I went back to work.

I met them at the pool later and swam with them for awhile. Then, we got ready and headed to the Longhorn to celebrate Linda's birthday and my grandparents' anniversary.

After dinner I asked my grandparents to pose for a picture! They are looking great for 88 and 90! 64 years of marriage...wow!!!

The waitress brought this dessert out for my grandparents. Very cool that they wrote the message!

Here we are celebrating! Mom's good friend, Linda, is down from NH for the month. It was her birthday yesterday, so she was in the spotlight today as well! Cailean was missing out. He's in Arkansas training for work this week.

Oh, Ian keeps mentioning different things he learned at baseball camp and is just so excited. He's looking forward to tomorrow, which is a big relief to us!!!!!!! Gavin heads back to Camp Mimi!

The Camp Marathon is about the start...

Well, we had a great time at the beach! Most of you who read the blog can view the pics on Facebook or I sent them to you through Picasa. Let me know if you didn't see them. It was relaxing and just what we needed!

We came home on Wednesday in time to pick up Aunt Sandi at the airport. She flew down to stay with my grandparents for a few nights while mom went up north. We did sparklers with them, but I forgot my camera...so pics will need to wait until my aunt sends them to me! She took great ones. :)

Monday kicks off our camp schedule. We're not used to this because I used to work 3 days in the summer to avoid the camp finances (2 of those days Cailean was home with them). So, really we just needed childcare for a few hours one afternoon a week. Times have changed! I was able to get a really good deal for Ian to attend a camp next week at NCSU. Gavin will spend all day with my mom. Ian is really excited for this, so I hope he'll be okay when I drop him off Monday morning! Their camps include YMCA camps, NCSU camps and VBS. They'll have quite a summer!

Hello Summer! Hello Beach!

Ian and Gavin enjoyed their first full week of summer vacation. My dad watched them. Ms. Jackson, a teacher at Ian's school, spent a day with them. They had two days with Cailean. They signed up at the library for the Summer Reading Program. There is no rushing in the morning. They are staying up a little later at night. Summer sure is here!

To help with childcare and to give them interaction with kids their own age, we signed them up for different summer camps. It's an adjustment to my schedule now that I'm at work 5 days a week. I know...suck it up. But, it's still an adjustment! The majority of the camps will be Y Camps (3 different ones for Ian...1 for Gavin), NCSU sports camps (2 for Ian, 1 for Gavin), VBS (evening one and a daytime one). Plus, Camp Mimi! Can't forget about that one!!

Ian lost another tooth, so I think that made it tooth #6. Not quite sure where it went...down the drain or in his belly! Ian reminds me a lot of my brother. His reading is more enjoyable if it's sports related. He can tell you the highlights of the sports news. Sports. Sports. Sports. He is very tall and is a bottomless pit!

Gavin is still into rhyming. You hear a lot of "pain and rain. They rhyme. pop and stop. They rhyme." He makes his bed and is very proud of it. He has the devilish laugh when using supersoakers.

Although I went to 75% status at work...I am still able to go on vacation next week with the boys that has been booked for a few months now. I'll leave you with the view from the balcony that we'll be enjoying in a few days. Looking forward to a few nights with a great friend and her boys!

Grandpop for a week!

My dad flew down here last Tuesday to spend a week with us and help with babysitting. We kept busy and had a lot of fun!! Here are a few things we did while he was here:

• ran Camp Grandpop
• watched 4 of Gavin's swim lessons
• went down the waterslide at the YMCA with Ian
• went underwater with the boys and gave each other funny faces
• dove in the deep end with Ian
• went to Pittsboro to an old fashioned ice cream shoppe for lunch
• bought a cake for the teachers/staff at Ian's school as a thank you
• picked up Ian on his last day of 1st grade
• took the boys bowling
• went to the movies
• had fun with supersoakers
• played the Wii
• watched sports
• played catch
• made a summer house out of candy with the kids
• went to Duke University
• read books
• played checkers, chess, chess, chess, chess and more chess
• went to DQ
• watched them ride their scooters

and the list goes on and on. I'll post pictures later! I have quite a few to upload.

We're headed to the airport in the morning and we're not looking forward to it at all.

Happy 40th, Pool Time, Field Day

Cailean turned the big 4-0 yesterday and we've been celebrating the major milestone for over a week! We had dinner at mom's on Sunday and she made him a trifle at his request. We kept adding all these candles on there, so it looks like it's on fire in this picture!

Two years ago Ian went down the slide and was traumatized by the event to the point of writing about it this year in his journal. Well, he finally had the nerve to try it again and now that's all he wants to do at the Y!! It's a fun one...very fast!

The school's field day was today. Gavin and I were able to make it over to the school to take a few photos of the event. I missed being able to volunteer this year, but it was nice to still see what went on and to see the kids having a blast with their friends. Ian was partners with Aaman, his buddy, in class. They made these shirts in school.

Of course I needed a picture of the backs...the kids all signed their names. Great idea!

My dad arrived, so we'll be quite busy the rest of the week!
