What fun!!

Jess, Aunt Ellen, Kaia and Luke arrived Sunday afternoon and left Monday evening. A short trip, but it was still fun! Last night we went over to mom's for dinner. They saw Ian off to school this morning and then we went to the park and to mom's to have lunch with my grandparents. Kaia went with me to pick up Ian at school this afternoon and Ian was very surprised (and excited) to see her again! Kaia missed her Ian today. Put two 2 1/2 year olds together and oh boy...lol...they were going at it at times with the whole sharing. But, they did just fine. :) Ian though...he does whatever Kaia tells him to do and he even saves her from Gavin. hahahahaha Then there is baby Luke...5 months old who wants to be able to keep up with them. He waved to Aunt Ellen. We were shocked and Jess missed it. So, she thinks he really didn't do it!!! He can now move around on the floor. They were here about 4 weeks ago and I couldn't believe the difference in him! He is such a happy baby...loves to laugh and make all sorts of noises. Kaia is hysterical. The things that comes out of her mouth...oh my gosh!!!! If you want to know some of the funny sayings, then call me. I won't post them on the internet! LOL

Tonight before they left, I noticed some white marks in Ian's mouth. I checked it out and his adult tooth broke surface in the bottom front!!!!!! His two lower front baby teeth are very loose, too! Wow!

Ian had a soccer game tonight. It was a make up game from a Saturday when it couldn't happen due to a lot of rain. Ian played so hard. He had some shots on goal and just controlled the ball, but none went in. He had a blast out there and works soooo hard! His form is amazing (totally gets it from me...hee hee...I can say that since I'm the author of this blog!!!!!). Two games left of the season and I think 3 more practices.

School for both kids tomorrow. It's also my first day to volunteer for 1 hour in Ian's classroom. I'm excited! Gavin gets to have a teddy bear picnic with his favorite stuffed animal. He chose the bear that sings "Take me out to the ballgame" and it's already in his backpack.

One Close Soccer Game on Pop-pop's Birthday!

Today we celebrated Pop-pop's 87th birthday and we'll continue to celebrate tomorrow with Aunt Ellen, Jessica, Kaia and Luke! We had a soccer game this morning and Ian's fan club grew! Sue and Verena (exchange student from Germany...super nice!!!) joined my mom, grandparents, and the three of us to cheer on Ian and the Rockets! Ian didn't get a goal today, but I'll tell you what...he had about 100 shots on goal. He kept shooting in the corners (just like what coach tells him to do), but they were a bit too far to the sides. He definitely hustles on that soccer field! Cailean was able to take a few action shots!

Gavin always enjoys himself at soccer. On the way to the field, he told Ian to take the ball away and kick it up the field. He added, "Ian, go to the ball." Gavin definitely listens at practice! hahahahaha He is soooooo ready to play on a team. But, I know...2010! Today he hung out with Mackenzie and Libby (older sisters of Ian's teammates). They always entertain Gavin during the game and at practice. It's wonderful!!

Gavin had a tough time getting down for his nap! He kept telling me he wanted to go to Pop-pop's birthday party! He FINALLY fell asleep and slept well. Ian worked on his sight words for school. We made it into a memory game to make it fun. He knew all of them and he even wrote them five times each. Then he wanted to do work in one of his workbooks!! He's becoming more brave writing his own words by sounding them out. I'll have to post some of his work soon. It's really cute what he is doing!

Anyway, we all went out to dinner and we tied a balloon to Pop-pop's chair just to make it obvious why we were all there. Of course Gavin yelled it about 20 times when we met them inside!! Pop-pop got his keylime pie with a candle in it and about 1/2 the staff at the Longhorn to sing. What a surprise! I think it made Pop-pop nervous! hee hee

Tomorrow we'll be eagerly awaiting the arrival of Aunt Ellen, Jess and the kids! Jess called me last night to ask about coming up! Yay!!!! Monday is a make-up soccer game and practice on Tuesday night. Busy!

Gavin's Playgroup, Kirk Playgroup and a Fishing Adventure

Yesterday morning Gavin and I met up with some of his classmates and their moms at a local park in Cary. It was Gavin's first playgroup without his brother! I did take my camera, but didn't take any pictures. Partly because I forgot, but it was also a rather large park and the kids were all scattered around. Since they are all under the age of 3 and most kids didn't really know me...I thought I would wait when we go to a smaller park to take a group photo. Anyway, his class has a great group of kids and the parents seem to be really outgoing and fun! We're excited. :)

Then, after we picked up Ian from school, the three of us headed to another park in Cary to meet some friends through the Kirk. It was such a perfect day to be outside! Some couldn't make it because the kids were sick, but I think there were over 6 kids there. Anyway, it was nice to catch up with the moms!

Then today...the plan was for the 4 Turners to go fishing with Lori, Sophia and Ella after school. Cailean was supposed to get home at around 4pm and we would all head over to where my coworker lives (near us) and fish in the lake there. Well, I got a hold of Cailean at 3:30pm and he said he had to stay late at work. WHAT?????????????????????????????? That was my first reaction. So, I was like, "Well, we are still going fishing. Lori and I can do this." Gavin and I picked up Ian and on the way back to the house, I tell Ian our plan and how daddy wasn't going to be able to make it fishing with us. He covered his mouth with his hand. He then asks, "Is Tom going?" Tom is Ella's and Sophia's dad. I told him no. He asks, "Why can't Tom go?" Okay, now I'm feeling like my oldest son has NO faith in his mother baiting a hook and all that stuff. I was determined and I KNEW Lori would be determined considering she told me she and Sophia would have dug for worms if I hadn't told her we had them in our refrigerator!!!!!

Okay, so...we get home and get all the fishing stuff together. The Volpes arrive and off we go. Yes, to a place I had never been...didn't even know where to park! But, that was okay because we figured it out. We all made our way to a spot at a bench. Lori and I proceeded to add hooks to the girls' new fishing poles. Gavin was already into the worms trying to pull them apart and Sophia and Ella were into them as well. All the kids are ready to go and cast out. Mission accomplished. Well, except that Lori was caught a few times!!!! Sorry Lori!!! Okay, so the lines are in the water. The kids are waiting and waiting. Well, Ella yells out that she has a fish!!!!!! She was soooooo proud, so of course I took a picture of her with the fish!!! Lori looks at me and I look at her. Someone has to let the fish free and get the hook back. I'm not going to go into detail about this part. If you really want to know, either imagine it or call one of us!!!! Needless to say, it was quite comical!!! Well, right after Ella caught her fish (still trying to figure out how to get the hook out of the fish and YES we had pliars with us), Ian decides to go and help Gavin with his pole and wouldn't you know...A FISH!!!!! Ian couldn't quite get it (plus some ducks pushed Ian to the bench...LOL...), so I took over. Finally the fish came out of the water and OH MY GOSH...this fish was HUGE!!!! Again, won't go into detail about how we freed this fish. Call if you want to know the story! hahaha So yea...at one point we had two fish that we needed to send back into the water!!!!

So the kids have their lines back in the water and Lori and I look at each other and one said, "5 minutes left of fishing before we need to leave." Well, about a minute later, Ella yells out that she has a fish. This fish was HEAVY!!!!! Once again Lori and I make eye contact. I'm starting my sneezing allergy attack and can't see anything because my hair is in my face! Once again we need to figure out how to save this fish and send it back into the water!!! At this point, we decided we were done. Each time a fish was caught, the size was bigger and bigger.

I would say that Lori and I definitely earned the "Coolest Mom Award" for today's adventure. The kids had a blast and it was such a nice day to spend time with friends!!!

A Day at the Park with Friends

So, we were scheduled to meet up with a family from Kingswood (Ian's new buddy, Luke) at Morrisville Community Park late this afternoon. I chose this park since it's close to mom's place and Cailean could get there quicker from work. Well, Cailean ended up going to DCA to fix a plane...but we still kept the plan. We got there first and then a van showed up shortly after us. I couldn't remember the vehicle that Jessica drove, but I thought it was silver. So, I told the boys that Luke and Ben arrived. They go running over and who comes out of the van???? Leslie! Coach's wife! She brought Max and Sam to play at the park. What a nice surprise. Then, Jessica showed up with Luke and Ben. So yea...it was nice to talk to Jessica and Leslie and it was great to see all six boys running around. We were supposed to be at mom's for dinner at 5pm. That wasn't happening! At about 5:15pm, the kids wanted to head down to the soccer field since we brought the soccer balls. So, after playing on the playground, we all headed to the field. Three other random bigger kids joined in on the fun and I think they played soccer for a good 30 minutes! We ended up getting to mom's at around 6pm! Ian did a great job playing with everyone since he was the common person with all the kids.

Tomorrow morning after we drop off Ian at school, Gavin and I are headed to another park to meet up with some moms and kids from his pre-school class. We'll stay there for a bit and then head over to pick up my grandparents (hopefully mom will remember to leave the van!!!) and take them on some errands. Then, after we pick up Ian from school, we're off to ANOTHER park to meet up with some families from the Kirk!

A Fun Saturday!

We started off the morning with an 8:15am soccer game and wow! The Rockets were outstanding!!! They looked great! Ian had quite a few shots on goal...had a quite a few breakaways and he finally was able to kick a hard shot into the goal! My mom and grandparents were there to watch. It was wonderful to see my grandmother walking around with her 4-pronged cane! Goodbye walker!!!!!!!!!!! She looked very nice since she just had her haircut by Justin and she just looked sooooo happy. Then there is my grandfather! He sat closer to the field and right on the bleachers. He was one proud great-grandfather cheering on Ian and watching Gavin interact with the siblings of Ian's teammates. We came home and did tons of work around the house catching up with laundry and cleaning. We watched some of the NCSU game on tv, too. Ian and Gavin did their share of cheering on the Wolfpack!

After Gavin's nap, we all headed over to Sophia's birthday party at her house. Ian and Gavin bought her a fishing pole and even gave one to Ella. Now all four can go fishing together just as we had planned! Tom and Lori put on such a wonderful party. The kids had a ball just running around in the backyard. It was a circus theme, so they had a neighborhood friend there for tattoos and face painting. I believe the girls had their faces done and the boys had these pretty cool tattoos put on. Ian and Gavin had Spiderman tattoos! They had the bean bag toss, balloon popping, parachute, sand toys and bubbles. Snacks were popcorn, pretzel/marshmallow mix, drinks and they even had a sno cone (spelling??) machine that Tom was running. The cake was yummy, too!!!! Oh, how could I forget to mention the pinata??? All the kids had a turn to hit and then Lori's niece ended up with the winning swing. The kids cleaned up with the candy. Yes, I believe the Turner boys cleaned up house! They love their candy (ugh!!!). It was just a fun day with soccer, housework and celebrating Sophia's big day!

Ian receives an award at Kingswood...

When I came home from work, Ian showed me a certificate he received at his school! You want to talk about one proud Kindergartener...but, I don't know who was more proud of this award...his parents or him! Even Gavin congratulated him! Anyway, Ms. Braun had given us the heads up last week that he was going to be chosen (a surprise to Ian). We just didn't know when he would receive it. So, today was the day! It's a Certificate of Character Excellence to recognize Ian as a great leader with positive behavior. The certificate is signed by the principal and assistant principal. Mr. Case, the assistant principal, came into Ian's classroom and presented it to him in front of his class. How cool is that?! He wants to hang it up in his room, but I told him I'd photocopy it and he can hang up the copied one! This is going in his scrapbook! Maybe I should keep it in a handy place because when he gets out of line, then we can pull this right out and remind him he earned this award. hee hee

So anyway, congratulations Ian James!

After we saw the certificate, the boys jumped into my car and we drove down to Ian's new friend's house. He lives in the neighborhood right next to us. In fact, I knew a few people outside when we met up with Luke and his family that I've recently met at Kingswood. What a small world! Ian raced out of my car and took off running with his buddy, Luke. Gavin was introduced to Ben and they seemed to hit it off well. We'll be meeting up with them at a park Sunday afternoon, too!

Ian and Gavin went to bed early tonight...a busy week with school and activities. We have an EARLY game tomorrow at 8:15am! UGH! I hope the Rockets are awake when we start!!!!!!

Back to School Night

What a long day today! I had tons of meetings all day at work and then rushed home to meet Cailean and the boys and head to Kingswood for Back to School Night. Ian looked very proud showing us all around. He was excited to show us the Gym, the Media Center (where the book fair was located this week) and even where you are allowed to sit and where they stand in line! We had pizza in the cafeteria and he showed us where he sits during lunch. The PTA was selling Kingswood shirts, so we jumped on that and he chose a red one. We headed into the Gym for introductions of teachers and a short PTA meeting, then headed to a Kindergarten room to hear lots of good stuff from the three Kindergarten teachers. Ian and Gavin were outstanding!!! We've already met some great people through the PTA and I know this is a great fit for Ian and for us. Ian hasn't even been in school a month yet and the Gym teacher knows Ian's name and a few other "specials" teachers. It just has that small town feel to it. For the last week or so, Ian keeps talking about Luke in his class. I was able to meet Luke on Monday at the Book Fair. According to Ian, they've talked about getting together at a park. But, they have been trying to get the two moms to meet. hahahahahaha Tonight, in the PTA meeting, Ian whispers that Luke's mom's name is Jessica. Okay, that helps. hahahaha Well...on our way out tonight, Jessica actually noticed Ian and we connected! It turns out that Luke has a younger brother who is less than 2 weeks younger than Gavin! So, how cool is that? And yes...we're getting together at the park this weekend. Maybe this will help Ian with getting excited about going to school???? Oh and also, Luke lives near us! So, we've got a few playdates to schedule with two other kids as well who go to Ian's school and are in Kindergarten. Fun times!

Gavin had a great day at school this morning and brought home more projects. He is very proud of his horse that he made! He is also really into singing...sings the alphabet song a lot! He, too, is meeting more friends! As one of the class parents, I've organized a playgroup for this Monday morning at a local park. So, that will be fun! I don't know all the kids or the parents and Gavin is establishing his own group of friends.

Between Kingswood, Gavin's Pre-School class, Soccer, Sunday School and old neighbors...we've got a great group of families around us! I told Cailean tonight that I have become the event planner for some of these groups! We love it. :)

We're heading into the weekend...another busy one. Soccer game, Bug Fest and Sophia's birthday party are all on the agenda for Saturday. Church, Sunday School, meeting up with Ian's friend at the park and dinner with mom, Mimi and Pop-pop on Sunday!

Things are improving...

I think we're making progress with Ian's transition to Kindergarten! Yesterday he talked a lot about what he did during his day at school. It is still sad when we head to school, but no more tears and he is getting the hang of it. Ian does still ask what Gavin does when he's not at his school, so I try not to talk about what we do. If I ever told him that we went to Grammie's and Pop-pop's and hung out with them for a bit, then that would NOT go over very well with Master Ian! Oh no! I was able to volunteer at the Book Fair yesterday when Gavin was in school. It was neat to interact with other parents and teachers and see what goes on. Not only is this whole Kingswood thing new to Ian, but it's new to us as well.

Ian brings home his Monday folder with all sorts of work he has done, newsletter and homework for the week. He works on his homework Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, so he can remember to return the work! So, I was going through one assignment he did in class. The directions said something along the lines of color the pictures that begin with B. Well, Ian colored all the pictures (including items that did NOT start with B). So, I read the directions to him and pointed to a picture. I can't remember exactly what the picture was, so let's say it was GIRL. He said, "Girl." I said, "What does it start with?" He replies, "G." I reread the directions to him and asked why he colored the girl. He said, "Well, I wanted every picture to have some color to it, so I colored them all in." Mind you...he colored the apple at the top of the page that was part of the unit sheet as well. LOL LOL UGH!

Gavin had a great day at school yesterday, of course! Cailean had yesterday off since he got home late from fixing a plane. Both of us went to pick him up and he talked our ears off! He just loves going to school! I sent in his book order form yesterday morning (had it in the parent pouch) and I overheard Ian explain to Gavin what he needs to do with that. How cute! He painted a beautiful picture for us. Not sure exactly what it is, so I'm going to say it was an abstract painting. He used yellow!

We're headed to soccer practice tonight. It's a full family deal. I help Rob run practice, Cailean assists and Gavin plays with the siblings of the kids on the team. It's great!

Pictures from the weekend and this morning

I'm putting a link with pictures from the weekend and this morning. There are a few from Ian's soccer game. One of the pictures is of Gavin and Libby. Too cute! She is in elementary school and her sister is on Ian's soccer team. Libby helps us out by entertaining Gavin during soccer practice and during the games. He LOVES Libby!!

Last night we went to our first Carolina Railhawks game in Cary. It was pretty neat. We sat in the cheap seats with the rowdy fans! As you can tell in the pictures...it was hot at first, but when the sun went down...it was a bit cooler. Mom and my grandparents joined us, too!

This morning Gavin and I had the opportunity to meet Ian and his class at the school book fair for 30 minutes. We shopped around for some books and Ian pointed out his classmates, so I can put names with faces. The red bag he is wearing I think has medical supplies and it's a big job! Ian has talked about it since the start of school and today was his day! So, of course I had to take a picture. Oh...as to the t-shirt...Cailean found it...I was not happy it was in our house...but knew Ian's Uncle Muck would appreciate the shirt. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



After the book fair, Gavin and I continued on to Morrisville and hung out with my grandparents for about 1 1/2 hours. Gavin raided the kitchen and ate all sorts of snacks and lunch! He told lots of stories and yelled at Pop-pop because he didn't have his walking stick with him AND we had to take a few minutes to find it!!!! Then, he was a bit confused (Gavin, not Pop-pop!!!) because my grandmother was using a 4-pronged cane and not the walker. Gavin didn't realize she can use the cane around the house and the walker for outside. So, I needed to do some explaining! hahaha Then, home for a nap!

Let's Go Rockets...Let's Go Rockets...

The Rockets had their first game of the season this morning and boy...what a showing! The team played great! Ian scored the first goal for the Rockets! It was perfect...a great kick right into the net. He had quite a few shots on goal today and he played some time as a defender.

Gavin did a great job cheering on the team as well. He was with his sidekick, Libby. She takes great care of Gavin and all Gavin talks about it is Libby! I'll have to post a picture of her soon. Her sister plays on the Rockets.

Getting ready to watch football at noon and have my Stampin' Up! class in the early afternoon.

Heading into the weekend...

It has been a few days since I posted a blog. Time sure does fly by! Sorry about that. We're still adjusting to Kindergarten. Mornings have been rough for our household, but the last two days...the tears have stopped once in the car headed to Kingswood...but very sad and tries to be a big boy. So, we are making baby steps. Today was the first day he ate his lunch (he said he was hungry today instead of telling us his stomach hurt)! Once he is more comfortable in this new setting and gets to know his classmates better...hopefully things will improve. Right?????!!!! The teacher and I are in daily communication and she has been wonderful...helping us get through this and letting us know what happens at school. Gavin has even tried helping Ian. The other morning he got a tissue and tried to blow Ian's nose and give him a hug. Yea, talk about precious!!!!!

Gavin had to stay home from school on Tuesday as he was getting over his bathroom situation. He has been in good spirits though, so that has been helpful. He is one who would love to go to school every single day and was ticked off that he can't get picked up at 3:45pm. So, yea...Gavin wants Ian's school schedule and Ian wants Gavin's school schedule. Of course, right?! Gavin's vocabulary has skyrocketed! Unbelieveable. He can talk your ear off...that's for sure! He pretends to fly on airplanes (the big couch is the American Eagle airplane), take buses and he has packed his suitcase. He claims to fly to the Outer Banks a lot. He keeps Jamie occupied after his nap on Tuesdays and Karen occupied on Wednesdays. I think he likes the one-on-one time with our wonderful childcare providers!!!! But, I do think he misses his big bro.

Tuesday night was soccer practice and half way through our scrimmage (Ian scored a beautiful goal!), there was lightening and thunder. So, we ended practice early. I was able to head to the PTA meeting at Kingswood on time and Cailean took the kids home.

We've got a busy weekend coming up. After school on Friday we're heading to the NC State Cross Country Meet for a campus connection event. Ian has a soccer game Saturday morning and I have a Stampin' Up! class here in the afternoon. Sunday morning is church, then Ian has a 2 hour soccer clinic at the soccer complex. He'll be coached by some of the Carolina Railhawks (professional soccer) and the Town of Cary reps. That night we're attending the Railhawks soccer game at 6pm with my mom and grandparents. We were able to get a discount on our seven tickets. :)

Another day...

Gavin is still trying to get over his belly aches, so he'll be home today from school. We thought it was getting better yesterday, but nope. He has no fever, so that is good and he is definitely staying hydrated.
Ian is working on adjusting to a full day of school 5 days a week. Yesterday I had Gavin crying because he just had diarrhea issues and then I have Ian crying because he doesn't want to leave me and go to school. It breaks our hearts to drop him off at school when he is crying. But, somehow, he manages to pull himself together and wipe away his tears when he enters his classroom. I really hope this ends soon and he is ready to leap out of the car yelling, "I can't wait to go to school!"
Yesterday, Gavin and I drove to mom's place and had her van for the morning. We took my grandparents to the Kirk for a 10am event with the OWLS group (Older, Wiser, Loving, Seniors). It's a group of retired people that get together once a month. When we picked them up after the event, they treated us to lunch! We had a nice lunch with them and I heard about the great time they had at the Kirk! They met some really nice people and my grandmother became more familiar with some ladies who will be in her Circle Group (that starts this Thursday). The guy who runs this group also is with Kiwanis, so he promoted my grandfather's book! Yes, he actually sold one! We were able to land a ride for my grandmother this Thursday for her Circle. So, things are coming together!
Well...it's time to get Ian ready for the day. Cross your fingers no tears today!!!!!!

Go State...

Yesterday afternoon Ian, Cailean, Pop-pop and I headed off to Carter-Finley to cheer on the Wolfpack as they hosted William & Mary in the home opener. I just might email the William & Mary head coach, so he can view these photos. I'm sure he would LOVE to see my grandfather sporting NCSU colors!!! hee hee Anyway...We met a bunch of my coworkers at the tailgate and then headed into the football complex for dinner and then were in our seats for the kickoff. It was Military Appreciation Day, so right before the team ran onto the field through the tunnel, 4 F-15 jets flew over the field...wow! That was incredible! Then, the fireworks went off and out ran the team. We watched the game from a little balcony looking down on the endzone. At the half, we went inside and my boss started drawing names for free giveaways. Well, Pop-pop won a nice pen/pencil set. Cailean won a new NCSU football hat and Ian also won the same hat as Cailean. We watched the 3rd quarter from inside and then headed back to the car at the start of the 4th. Pop-pop was VERY impressed with everything from the parking spot to the tailgate to the dinner to the seats to the military stuff to the gifts and so on and so on. But, not sure who was more excited about being at the game...my grandfather or Ian!

Gavin, mom and Mimi ran some errands and then headed back to the townhome for dinner before returning to our house to put Gavin to bed. He has a bit of an upset tummy, so we're staying home this morning to see how he does.

Friday...

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days...still trying to get better! This sickness has definitely taken a toll on me. Ian had a rough morning at Kindergarten yesterday, but Ms. Braun is just outstanding and worked through it with him! I really like how she communicates with me about Ian...she informed me in the morning about the situation and updated me a few hours later to tell me that all is well. I was at work this morning and I guess it was a challenge to get Ian in the truck and off to school today. Not sure if he was a bit jealous that Gavin got to stay home with Cailean today or if he is just plain exhausted from the week. I guess he was just sobbing when he had to leave the truck and go into the building. But, Ms. Braun contacted me in the afternoon and said he didn't have any tears in the classroom! So, great job Ian!

He was really excited yesterday about earning a ticket in Music. Ian said he let someone go in front of him in line and the teacher liked that and gave him a ticket. For those of you wondering...Kingswood believes in the positive reinforcement system. So, tickets are handed out for positive behavior. Students collect them and then are allowed to trade them in for various items...play basketball against the Asst Principal or have lunch with a teacher or toys or put a handprint on the wall, etc. Those are some of the things we have heard at least.

Cailean, Gavin and I picked up Ian this afternoon and he thought it was the absolute coolest that his teacher was going to the same football game as him tomorrow night! It was soooo funny the way he was telling us the story! He thinks it's great that his teacher loves football and is a NC State fan! I think they have a special bond now! ;)

Gavin is doing very well at his pre-school! It's so hard watching the little guy walk in with a teacher though because he's soooo tiny! He would love to go to school five days a week like his brother though! He even went potty at pre-school this week for Miss Sherri! He is such a big boy now...hard to believe!

Ian's soccer game is cancelled for tomorrow morning due to the weather that we are supposed to be getting as well as a birthday party we were to attend. The football game is still on for tomorrow. We'll be tailgating with some people in the late afternoon from my work, dinner in the football complex at 5:15pm and then kickoff is at 6pm. Cailean, Pop-pop, Ian and I are going while mom and Mimi stay home with Gavin. Ian didn't know he was going to the game until I called him at 8am today. He found the envelope and saw the passes that we need to wear for tomorrow. He just thinks this is awesome! No ticket, but a special pass.

Update on today...I'm still sick and I'm wishing the medicine would kick in any minute now. Gavin was home with me today and Ian was off to kindergarten. He woke up and got dressed before coming into the living room. Of course with a different shirt on than what I had chosen the night before. That's okay though! As long as it matched! Ian ate breakfast and then told me he didn't want to be a fulltime student anymore! But, we didn't have any issues going to Kingswood this morning. It was a bit funny that he said that though! When I picked him up this afternoon, he told me a few things about his day...what he did outside...no hats allowed (not even on the playground I guess)...didn't eat all of his lunch...mentioned a few kids in his class. When we got home, he showed me a picture of a bear he colored. I noticed on the back, he wrote "bedr" and I asked him what that was about. Ian replies, "Figure it out, mom." Wow! I was NOT expecting that coming out of Ian's mouth with a bit of an attitude!!! hahahahaha He said they learned a new word today and they had to spell it. So, I said, "Oh, you learned how to spell better?" I forgot that kindergarteners know it all! hahahaha UGH! It was cute..."Figure it out, mom." I didn't know what to say after that!!!

September 2 for Ian and Gavin

I got hit with a terrible sinus infection and I found myself at Urgent Care this morning to take care of this. This is the second one in ONE month for me. I can't get over the pain that comes with a sinus infection. I did take pictures this morning as we set off to their first day of school, but I have NO energy to find the camera, download the photos and put them on the blog. I'm sorry. Hopefully tomorrow.

Ian woke up this morning all excited for Kindergarten, so that was a good sign. Gavin wasn't as excited as Ian. He kept telling me he wanted to stay home all day with Mommy. I made them homemade waffles and they got dressed, brushed their teeth, combed their hair and Gavin still told me he was going to stay home with Mommy. The lunch boxes. When he opened the frig and saw his very own lunch box with his name on it...he was going to school! He refused to put it in his backpack. We headed downstairs and outside to take a few photos before driving off to Kingswood. Ian was excited to see Ms. Braun! Next, it was Gavin's turn. So, off to the Kirk we went.

Miss Amy (music teacher) was the lucky one to get Gavin! When he saw the teachers come out to the carpool line, he wanted out of his car seat. haha Miss Amy helped Gavin out of the car and he let her put on his backpack with his lunch box in his hand. I took a few photos of this! When he started walking towards the building holding onto Miss Amy's hand, he kept looking back at me waving his hand for me to go with him. I think maybe he was a bit confused because he obviously goes to the Kirk with me!

After I left the doctor's and pharmacy, I went back to pick up Gavin at 12:15pm. Miss Sherri said he was AWESOME and did such a great job today! Gavin got into his car seat and talked about 100 miles/minute. I was able to get that they went in an elevator and had to be quiet...he ate his carrots, cheese, cookie and bagel for his lunch...he didn't go pee...he got to go on the playground and even played in the sandbox...and that Connor (his buddy) is funny!

We came home and both of us took naps, then off to pick up Ian. Ms. Braun said he had another GREAT day! She even asked Gavin how his first day of school was today. ;) Ian said that he likes his new playground...his room is cold like it's going to snow...he did pretty well eating his lunch (had to list everything like I didn't know what was in it!!)...everyone was there...he played with Luke...oh and he had rest time for 20 minutes, but he didn't fall asleep today and he loves his new rest mat.
