Fall is Here!

Wow...just noticed I haven't posted anything since Monday! lol Sorry everyone. Let's see...we've gone on the bike path at mom's the last few days. The boys do such a great job on their bikes! Ian looks way too tall for his bike, so we'll need to figure something out about that. Gavin claims he can have the bike because he doesn't need training wheels anymore. Good one, Gavin! Aunt Sandi is still here, so we've been trying to get every minute we can with her. Today she went with us to pick up Ian at school and got to meet Mrs. Geiger and a few other people. I was hoping she would meet Mrs. Harris, but I forgot that Ian's class goes from PE to carpool line on Wednesdays.

Gavin is loving pre-school! His big thing is when he says someone does something to him that he doesn't like he tells him/her, "Hey, what's the big idea?" He took that line from Donald Duck I believe. LOL He really emphasizes big...it's sorta cute! He seems to be the patrolman for line leaders. As the class was heading outside, I heard Gavin yell out, "Hey, you are not the ween wider." He was ticked that someone else took the line leader's spot! LOL

Ian is doing very well in school. I look forward to Mondays when he brings home his Monday folder with lots of work that he has done. His handwriting has improved (when he takes the time) and his reading is getting better. He really, really wants to read a chapter book and in a matter of five minutes he seems to be on page 40 and can't really tell me what he was reading! But, I think he is doing better than I ever did with reading. I remember just asking to read the sports page of the Burlington Free Press. Forget the world news and state news...I needed to know who won the games and all that! LOL He hasn't had a "stomach ache" this week, so that's a good sign. Just some tears in the morning because I'm sending him to school in jeans now and not shorts, so the jeans have buttons and not snaps. But, he is able to do the button if he sets his mind to it!

Dinner conversations are always interesting. Gavin starts by asking Ian who got into trouble at school and then answers his own question without Ian telling him first. The same names get brought up each night! Soooo funny!!! We have two bulletin boards and we like to put up work from the boys on them. Not sure what's up with Gavin, but he definitely doesn't want to have his work displayed. UGH!!!! He always pulls the stuff down.

My dad sent down some "chewies" AKA "fruit snacks" in a box and the boys received the gift last night. Dad enclosed the letter and he said he heard their stomachs growling all the way up in Vermont. I don't buy chewies a lot because that is all they think about when we have them in the house, so to them...it was like Christmas morning! Anyway, Ian tried calling up Grandpop this morning asking if he heard him burp all the way up in Vermont! LOL LOL Dad wanted to remind them that he is not too far from them. Ian thinks it's a game and does stuff and then says, "I wonder if Grandpop heard that?!" Probably not...I have inherited my father's hearing!

Ian has a soccer game tomorrow night at 6:30pm! Looking forward to that for sure. Lots going on in October. Soccer games, Kingswood functions, Gavin's Lunch Bunch for his school fundraiser, his Halloween parade, birthday party, park visits with Gavin's classmates, Halloween festivities, Cailean going on a hunting trip, Ian's field trip, basketball registration, and...Aunt Cindy, Uncle David, Ben and Sarah flying in the weekend of October 16.

Teacher Workday

Ian was well aware that today was Teacher Workday. He knows exactly what that is all about...no school for kids because teachers work and have meetings. LOL Cailean took today off from work to help me out, so that was good. I went into work a little longer than normal today hoping to leave early at the end of the week, so Cailean could get some hunting in. I'm sorta promoting it this year because hunting = scrapbook time for me! LOL Cailean and the boys went over to pick up Pop-pop to take him fishing. They gave him his very OWN fishing pole for his birthday present. He received many shirts and ties for his birthday, so it sounded like he was a bit confusing that he got a fishing pole! They piled in the truck and off they went to Bond Park for an outing. Ian called me at work and he had just caught a catfish and wanted to know if he could have catfish for dinner. I told him that his dad was nuts and hung up! Then, to Chick-fil-A for lunch along with ice cream for dessert. Gee whiz...what a treat!

When I got home from work we did some errands with Aunt Sandi and then the boys, mom, Aunt Sandi and I took a long walk (they rode their bikes) on the bike path. We went almost the whole way on the path, so I think about 2 miles. Stayed there for dinner and then home just in time before the storm started.

Happy 88th Birthday to Pop-pop!!!!!

You got it! My grandfather (and his twin sister, Aunt Aggie) turned 88 today! I'm pretty sure he enjoyed his day...actually I should say birthday weekend! Two aunts and and an uncle drove down from New York to help him celebrate. My cousin and her two kids drove up from South Carolina as well. It was a fun and exhausting weekend!!!! In this picture we made two cakes and ate dinner at mom's Saturday night since many were leaving Sunday after Bob Evans. The weather wasn't all that wonderful, but we managed to sneak in a trip to a Corn Maze in Cary, but actually really close to mom's. We visited Green Acres and had soooo much fun!!! We stayed longer than I expected, but that was a good thing. Aunt Ellen, Uncle Mickey, Jessica, Cailean, the four kids and myself attempted the maze! We totally did not know that it would take at least 1 hour! LOL LOL We were given a very tall pole with a flag at the end that we had to take through the maze. Mom knew where we were because the flag kept falling (it was pretty heavy for Kaia and Gavin to hold...hehe). We were given a sheet of paper and 10 squares on it. We had to find the 10 stations in the maze and oh yes...we only cheated ONCE! We sent Ian through the corn to get #6 I think it was. LOL It was definitely fun and we made it to the end! Hooray! It was a littly drizzily, but not too bad. We were determined to all go on the hayride as well. Rain or not, we would be there.

The kids got to go in a jumping house, run through a little maze, milk a cow, sit on a tractor, go into a firetruck, go on a hayride, get their faces painted, and just have a blast!

Lucas kept hitting his Grandpa (my uncle) in the head, but he thought it was Lucas' hand. Nope...somehow Luke got a hold of an ear of corn!!!!!

Sunday morning was very eventful. We did Sunday School and since I was with the 1st graders we left early to go outside and listen to the NCSU Pipe and Drum Band play. It was pretty cool and I soooo wish dad was here to show the bass drummer how to play! Dad could have put on quite a show. I had all 14 first graders lined up. At the end of a song, my group yelled, "Go State!" It was cool. I told them to say it louder. hee hee So, after the next song, they yelled it louder and then the kids were making the wolf noise. Where was my camera???? Oh, the reason for the band was...it was Kirkin' O' the Tartan or something like that. So, all Scottish stuff, bagpipes, etc. It happens once a year at the Kirk.

I had given Leslie at Bob Evans a call in the morning to give her the heads up that we would have 12 people there at around 12:15ish. Well, what a show they put on for Pop-pop (we had NO idea they were doing this). I'm totally slacking because I did NOT have my camera!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were set up in the back corner. They had put 2 tablecloths on our tables. They tied our silverware and napkin with some silver stuff. They had a bunch of balloons at Pop-pop's chair. They made him a hat that said it was his 88th birthday (he wore it the whole time, too). Most of the staff, chefs, etc came over at some point (at least once, if not twice or even three times) to say Happy Birthday and meet the clan. After we all had brunch, they brought out an apple pie and chocolate cake. One waitress sings and sang Happy Birthday to him. After she finished then we all sang (with about 3/4 of the staff, manager, asst manager, chefs, etc) Happy Birthday to Pop-pop. They had a small gift for him, a card signed by the entire staff and oh my gosh...my cousin felt like a celebrity! LOL It was her first experience at Bob Evans with our grandparents.

You can always tell when Gavin has Music at pre-school because he sings and sings and sings the songs on that day. So yes...Wednesday is Music day for Gavin. From what he told me, they sang this song today with Miss Amy! I was near the sink and got the camera without Gavin noticing. I had to do the video clip with the camera to the floor or Gavin would stop singing if he knew I was taping him!!!!!

So this time I decided to hide around the corner and get him on video without him noticing. It didn't last very long as you can see. Also, the reason why he is by himself at the table is that we started eating dinner at 5:25pm. He likes to START eating his dinner when we all finish. Can you tell he has to be in the mood to get his picture taken? Ian automatically knows when the camera is in front of him he smiles. With Gavin, as I've said before, if he wants to do something he'll do it. If he doesn't want to do something he'll make it very clear to you.

Today was the first of I think six days when schools get out 2 1/2 hours early. I'm really glad that I don't work on Wednesdays anymore with my new schedule because I got Gavin at 12:15 and then needed to get Ian at 1:15pm. Jessica and I both volunteer in our kids' classrooms on Wednesday mornings. She came into the classroom and wanted to see if we wanted to go see the movie "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" after school. Heck ya! I was thinking of taking the boys to that this afternoon, so we joined Jessica and Luke. Ian was all about being with his buddy for the afternoon and Gavin thinks it's cool to keep up with the first graders!

Family and Friends!

We had a great Sunday as we did the typical church and Bob Evans adventures. Ian and Gavin made a scarecrow thing with mom, decorated her door area with cobwebs and spiders and got out more fall decorations while I was at a Stampin' Up! party. Yea, so weird attending one when I used to sell SU! stuff, but times have changed. LOL We had a taco bar for dinner and Gavin ate up that taco meat pretty well and Ian did a pretty good job himself. They are really into riding their bikes, so we did end up taking a trip down the bikepath. It's a good workout because you pretty much have to run or speed walk to keep up with them.

The kids went to school this morning and Gavin did a great job turning Lucky over to his teachers. We'll get him back in a month or so, but boy...Ian and Gavin were very sad! When I picked up Gavin I had to clarify something with his teacher. When Cailean dropped off Gavin Friday morning he was wearing his work clothes. The teacher commented and Cailean told her he was doing community service for Ian's class. Cailean left and was thinking, "Ugh. Why did I say it like that?" So, I wanted to make sure Cailean wasn't in trouble with the law...but his class was talking about community service helpers and he was going to talk to the kids about his job! LOL LOL LOL Phew...glad we cleared that up!

After school today we met Jessica and the boys at a local park and then headed to IHOP for dinner. This was all last minute, but I'm glad it worked out with our schedules. Kids ate free there and little did we know...there is a clown there every Monday night. The boys sure did enjoy that. Ian got his face painted to look like Batman and Gavin didn't want it done until we were leaving. But, no way was I going to stand in line again! So, he missed out. Jessica took this picture of Ian. Gavin and I volunteer in the morning to help out with the Book Fair before I take him to the sitter's house. Tuesday night Ian has a soccer game and then we hurry to Kingswood for Back to School Night to attend the last session. Not sure if we'll have a game though...50% of rain I think. C'mon nice weather!

We are so lucky to have Lucky!

You might be wondering who Lucky is right now. Well, in an earlier blog I mentioned that Gavin was VIP (he called it PIP for awhile, but has it down now that it's VIP) in his class on Friday. When you are VIP for the day you get to take the class dog home until you return back to school. I think I might have thought Lucky was a bear. But, no...he is a dog! The class pet for the year. Very cool. Lucky comes with a bag, toothbrush, bone, blanket and a journal. Ian totally remembers when he got to bring home his class dog, Skittles. Maybe Skittles was a bear? I can't remember! Well, here he is...

We've had a pretty slow day today, which has been nice. Ian and I headed off to soccer practice while Gavin spent some time with his Mimi. Cailean was home doing projects around the house. Then, the kids and I shopped at Super Walmart before returning home. They got to spend some time playing the Wii, reading and cleaning. What could be better on a Saturday, right? Then, we met a family at Harrison's in downtown Cary. The place is delicious and we would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. The kids didn't really know the other two kids, but they hit it off VERY well!!!!! So well that we were there for almost two hours!

Into our Sunday routine tomorrow. I'm excited to actually attend a stamping party in the afternoon and mom will take the kids on the bikepath probably for a walk.

Friday

Typical work/school day for everyone. Cailean volunteers in Ian's classroom, but will also talk to the kids about Community Service Helpers and he'll wear his inspector uniform. This afternoon I'll take the kids to the NC State Cross Country Meet. It's the annual event where we ask faculty and staff to come out and show support to our cross country student athletes. We went last year and the boys sat on hay cheering on the Wolfpack!

Nothing big planned for this weekend. Cailean is hunting. We have soccer practice and then regular Sunday schedule. I'm sure the kids and I will do lots of cleaning as we get ready for all the visitors arriving next week!!!! Aunt Sandi, Uncle Mickey and Aunt Ellen are driving down from NY. Jessica, Kent and the kids are driving up from SC. They'll stay with us while everyone else stays at mom's. We just found out last night, so when I told the boys...they started a countdown. They LOVE to play with Kaia and Lucas! Of course they already had a countdown because they knew Aunt Sandi was coming. :) My grandfather turns 88 next Sunday!

Well, Gavin is VIP today at school. He gets to bring a toy from home and he chose a nerf football. He'll be able to hold the flag, be the line leader and even take home the class bear for the weekend. So, we'll be having a visitor this weekend!

Gavin did this worksheet at pre-school today! He told me he just wanted to color the hammer and nails! LOL LOL LOL Don't forget to click on the image to make it bigger.

Gavin sure does love school. Amazing! This morning he had his backpack on his back and ready to head to the car. But, it was only 8:30am and too early to take Ian to school before he goes. He was bummed! Of course I had to remind him that he needed to get his socks on first! When I picked him up he was holding his Family Tree project. I've never seen this type of project before. Anyway, we get into the car and he tells me we need to go to Mimi's house to get glue. Okay, so off we went. I knew we had glue at our house, but why not check in with my grandparents and so off we went. He charged right into the house and said, "Hi everyone. We need glue. I made family tree." He looked around the kitchen and then my grandparents thought maybe my mom had some upstairs. We head upstairs and he says, "You go that way and I'll go this way." I replied with an "Ay ay Captain!!!" We managed to get glue and fix his project. Phew! Mission accomplished!

Ian was excited today because he said his work got posted on the board for his neat handwriting. The theme this week is Community Service Workers. When Cailean volunteers this Friday morning, Mrs. Harris asked if he would talk about his job to the kids. I told Cailean he has to wear his uniform!!! Anyway, Ian drew a picture of an American Eagle airplane and an inspector and then wrote why inspectors are important.

Anyway, both kids are enjoying their schools and that makes us VERY happy!!!!

Let's see...what have we done the last two days...

The boys had school yesterday and Gavin has been so excited to go to school. When I dropped him off yesterday the Director, Miss Brenda, took him out of my car and talked about NC State (Gavin was wearing his NCSU shirt) to him. Then, they saw Connor arrive and they waited for him. At one point I heard Connor yell, "Gavin, hey Gavin!" Way too cute! So, they went off into school all excited. From what I heard, Gavin made it clear he was NOT going to watercolor even though the rest of the class did it. The project was optional, but he made it clear he didn't want to do it. I asked him on the way home why he didn't want to and his response was, "I just didn't want to." LOL If Gavin doesn't want to do something, then he won't do it...you usually can't convince him otherwise!!! Ugh.

Yesterday afternoon Gavin and I took Cody to the vet to have a hot spot checked out. He got that when we were camping Friday night. It was my first experience taking him since Cailean usually does that. But, all went well and Cody received some antibiotics. Gavin was great with Cody and acted very concerned. He told the vet that his dog has blood.

Tonight Ian had his second game of the season and oh my gosh!!! What a game!!!! The big surprise was that Mrs. Harris came to watch. How cool is that?! Ian thought that was pretty cool and so didn't the other parents. :) She stayed for the entire game and was cheering on the whole team. Thanks for coming Mrs. Harris! Well...I guess Ian wanted to show her how he can play. He managed to score TWO goals!!!!!!! I would have to say it was his best game ever! The usual fan club was there to cheer him on as well! His Mimi, Grammie and Pop-pop! We couldn't talk to them for awhile because we had to hurry to get to Family Night at a local restaurant called Andy's. 15% of the proceeds from the entire day will be given to Kingswood! Wahoo!!!! We ran into a few teachers and lots of families. It was a lot of fun and nice to see it packed with Kingswood support.

The kiddos are off to bed and I'm going to figure out what I need to do next!

Camping, NC State Football and a little of this and that

We had a great time camping at Jordan Lake Friday night! Our spot was perfect since we were right there at the lake and didn't need to go far to fish. Gavin caught a "beauty" as he would call the fish, but was more into the fire to sit around and eat marshmallows. Ian liked fishing the best I think. Brought back a lot of memories of camping with the Girl Scouts and of course camping with my family out in California! Ian said the birds were too loud, but they were actually the frogs making lots of noise! hahaha

Saturday morning we headed to Connor's birthday party and it was great to see everyone there. The kids, of course, had a blast! Ian was able to go as well and had Justin and William to play with and Gavin had his friends there from pre-school.

Ian and I headed to soccer practice in the early afternoon and had a great practice! Can't wait for the game on Tuesday night at 5:30pm! I think Cailean has to miss it though because he has a 5pm meeting at work that he needs to attend.

Saturday night we headed to the NC State football game and had a little tailgating going on. Of course I have NO pictures. I had the camera, but didn't know Cailean was charging the battery. Yea, definitely not happy that I didn't check!

Cyclones and a Packed Weekend

Ian had his first soccer game of the season with the Cyclones last night! They have worked very hard in just five practices and it was great to watch them put it all together for the big night. My mom had Open House at her school, so she was very bummed that she had to miss a game. I'm sure everyone at her school knew she was missing it, too! Cailean and I took my grandparents to the game and they enjoyed watching! They are definitely the number one fans!!!

Both boys have school this morning and it'll be Cailean's first day volunteering in Ian's classroom. Tonight we're attempting one night of camping. Not sure if you remember us going last year, but I certainly hope the ticks don't find us this year. We're headed to the same lake (about 15 min away), but a different campground. Wish us luck! We go hard core eating hot dogs on sticks, marshmallows and chips! LOL I'm sure we'll have stories on Saturday to tell. :)

Good Times with Friends!

Yesterday Gavin had a great day. It was his buddy's 4th birthday, so we met Connor and Kim at Marbles in the morning and spent a few hours there. Then, Kim took the boys while I went to my staff meeting and I met them at their house later in the day. Gavin had a blast!!!!!!!!

Gavin had a great first day of pre-school today. No tears at all. He yelled from our car, "Hey Connor" as he saw his friend walk to the front door. He was so excited to see his friends and his teachers and it was a HUGE relief. Actually, I wasn't quite sure what to think. Was I a little sad that there were no tears when he said bye to me? LOL After I dropped him off I went to Kingswood to volunteer for the morning in Ian's classroom. It was my first day with the first graders and I was very excited to actually see what Ian does. Mrs. Harris is a great teacher and we are fortunate! We're so lucky to have such wonderful teachers at Kingswood! Gee...to have Ms. Braun for Kindergarten and now Mrs. Harris for 1st...Ian sure is lucky and so aren't we! I left there and went back to the Kirk to get Gavin. He made a flag in school and was waving it when I saw him in carpool line. He told me that it's almost like Pop-pop's flag!

Every Wednesday schools get out 1 hour early, so we had Ian at 2:45pm. His friend, Luke, came home with us and the boys had a lot of fun playing for the afternoon. They seemed a bit tired, but had a lot of fun.

Tomorrow is Ian's first soccer game of the season. Go Cyclones!

Looks like we're going camping Friday night at Jordan Lake. Not the best night to go since we have a busy Saturday, but we are running out of possible dates to take the boys and Cody for an overnight. Saturday we've got Connor's birthday party, soccer practice and we're all heading to the NCSU football game at night!

Labor Day Weekend

First, we want to say HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY Becky!!!!!!! We all hope you are recovering well and your energy improves each day!!! We'll call ya later, so you can hear the Turners sing to you! haha

Things are well here. Gavin decided to have another growth spurt in the last week. It's quite sad to see his little baby belly slowly disappear. I keep telling him he's my baby, but then he keeps telling me that he's a big boy and not a baby. Anyway, back to the growth spurt. Last year Gavin was wearing 3T for pants. He is now wearing 5 slims with adjustable waists. That is from Kohl's. But, I just tried an old pair of 5 slims from Ian a few years ago and they seemed a bit long. I don't know...all I know is the pants he got yesterday are 5's. Ian was wearing 7X slims and he is now in 8 slims with adjustable waists.

Ian is eating with little complaining, if any, now at the table. He had a hamburger the last two nights and I was shocked. Usually it takes him a good 20 minutes to take ONE bite, but not anymore. He loves his fruit and cheese and will eat up chicken fingers or pancakes in no time.

Gavin, on the other hand, starts to eat when the rest of us are finished. He will eat his food when he wants to eat his food. That is definitely part of his personality. He knows what he wants and when he wants it. Forget trying to convince him otherwise.

Yesterday we went to church, Sunday School, Bob Evans, Kohl's and then to mom's to take them on the new bike path with their bikes. You basically have to run to keep up with them. Gavin likes to use his horn to let everyone know he is on his way. Both do very well on their bikes. Gavin is so jealous that Ian doesn't have training wheels on. In fact he tried to convince us he doesn't need them anymore. Oh, okay, Gavin! LOL

Today the boys and I are hung around the house and did some organizing and cleaning. Cailean worked, as usual, for a Monday. Later in the afternoon I put the bikes in my trunk and headed to Lake Pine. The kids are doing very well riding and you actually feel like you get a work out going with them because you have to walk/run to keep up. Well, we got about 1/3 of the way around the lake and Gavin fell off and scraped his knee. Oh, the tears! He held my hand and jogged back to the car while I pulled his bike alongside us. He cried the whole way back. His poor knee! Ian had done the same thing last night at mom's. Next time I'll be sure to put some supplies in my pocket! It was a long way back to the house! We got home and Ian put in Gavin's favorite DVD, Chip n Dale and we made popcorn. I had to distract him while I cleaned it.

When Cailean came home we headed over to the Nelsons area for a neighborhood cul-de-sac party just down the street from us. It had rained in the afternoon and then stopped. So, we went ahead. When we arrived, it rained and rained and rained and rained. Jessica and I sat on the tailgate of her car and the kids went off and played soccer. They thought it was very cool to play in the rain for a long time. We couldn't believe how many neighbors didn't care about the weather and stood out with and without umbrellas to visit. We cooked up some dinner and then headed back to the house for warm showers and the kids were asleep by 7:30pm!

Oh, so last night Pop-pop was talking about how he is turning 88 on September 27 and blah, blah, blah. Well, I told him, "Pop-pop, I know what I'm going to do for your birthday...I'm going to see if the NC State Pipes and Drum Band will play at church on YOUR birthday!" He replies, "Really? You will do that?" I said, "I'll see what I can do, but I'm pretty sure." In the meantime, my grandmother was laughing soooooooooooooooo hard in the chair because she knows that the Kirkin' of the Tartans is happening at the church on September 27! LOL I certainly didn't plan it, but heck...let Pop-pop believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL I'm going to have fun with this one for sure! :)

Pre-school and Fishing!

Gavin was headed off to pre-school for 1 1/2 hours as the last transition day. Cailean was to drop him off at the Kirk by 9:30am and pick him up at 11am. According to Cailean, he did GREAT! No tears and he walked right in. Way to go Gavin!

After dinner, the boys went fishing at "Jody's Lake." It's across the way in another development where my coworker, Jody, lives. It's not really called Jody's Lake, but the boys named it that!

Lots going on this weekend, although I sure wish we were headed somewhere for the holiday weekend. Cailean is working overtime tomorrow. The boys and I might head to the Raleigh Farmers Market in the morning, then they are having lunch with mom while I am meeting Lori for lunch. Off to Super Walmart after that to find new NC State t-shirts for them, then home. Sunday will be our typical Sunday and no big plans for Monday other than a neighborhood barbeque that we were invited to down the way with some Kingswood families.

School and a call from my nephew!

Gavin met his teachers for the first time today and half of his class. He did GREAT!!! He wore his backpack in (I wanted him to do this, so he knew what to do after today) and found his hook for it. Then, he took out his lunchbox and put that in his cubby. He has the name recognition down nicely and recognizes her friends' names, too. He played with some toys, interacted great and did okay when he pulled me near him but I drifted away. He wasn't glued to my leg, which was nice to see. We went to the store and bought the three items we're contributing to the class off the supplies list. We did a quick grocery store run after that and then he rode his scooter. He actually, went over to Melvin's and Norma's house to ask if they knew how to ride a scooter! So, they came outside and joined us. Then, Gavin and I went to my lunch meeting and off to pick up Ian from school. Gavin spent an hour at Jessica's house with Ben and Luke (what a nice friend...thanks Jess!) while I took Ian to the dentist.

Oh, one of the highlights for today...
So, I had just dropped off Gavin and my cell phone was ringing. I didn't answer it (even though I saw that it was coming from Cailean's brother's house) because I was talking to Jessica. When we left, I called Megan and asked if she had called. Nope. I said, "Someone did from your house because I have a voicemail." She said, "OH MY GOSH...Neal Thomas!!!" So, I hung up, called my voicemail and sure enough...my little nephew called his Aunt Christi!!!!! That message will be saved FOREVER!!! He obviously wanted to tell me something because he was babbling away!

Just a few things...

Lots to blog about today. First, we'll start by saying, "Happy Anniversary!" to Cailean's parents, Duncan and Joyce! We hope you enjoyed the day.

Last night mom watched the boys while Cailean and I were at Parents Night at the Kirk Pre-school. Miss Brenda is starting her 19th year and we are so happy that she continues to show so much energy and excitement. She is awesome! We met Gavin's teachers for the year, Miss Cindy and Miss Susie. I think Gavin will really enjoy having them! He's in the same class as Connor, Katie, David and Will. They were together last year. I signed up to help with the Christmas party for his class. I always take that party out of all the holidays because it's a good timeframe for my work. I also sign up for the easiest playdough color...pink! LOL When we got home and mom left, Ian was hysterically crying. He said he misses Mimi so much and he didn't want her to leave. Poor little guy. So, he got my cell phone and called her up to tell her that he misses her. Ahhh... Anyway, Gavin and I go tomorrow morning at 9:30am for him to meet half his class and to meet both teachers. Wish us luck!

Ian seems to be adjusting to first grade. I am really hoping that he gets out there at recess and joins other groups. He seems to just tell us he plays by himself, which makes me a little sad. He said he wants the soccer ball to come out and I'm wondering if this isn't allowed right now because the kids have to learn to follow the rules. I remember last year it was a few months or maybe just weeks before a ball was allowed on the playground. Once soccer was okay at recess, then that is all I think Ian did. I'm looking forward to September 9, which is my first day to volunteer in his classroom. It'll be neat to meet his classmates and see Ian in action! I'll take Wednesday mornings this year and Cailean will have Friday mornings. Cailean is jealous that Mrs. Harris asked me to be the head parent of the class. I guess only one parent volunteered to be co-parent (and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Cailean!!!). I don't mind...just didn't write anything down initially to give others an opportunity. So yea...Cailean is jealous! hehe

This morning Connor and Kim came over. It is soooooo cute watching Gavin and Connor play together. They went camping in our house, played with lots of toys and just had a great time. They each had a spoon and Gavin said they wanted ice cream. This was at 10:45am. I said no and they put the spoons back and played with the trucks. It's about 11:15am now and Kim and I are at the table with our calendars out trying to figure out a night to get together over at our house to have dinner and toast marshmallows. We've been talking about doing this for months, but we never have our schedules in front of us. Well, all of a sudden we hear some giggling down the hallway and I heard the freezer (like nobody closed the door). We go over and close the door and head to Gavin's room. What do we see??? Two little boys...each with a spoon AND about to share a container of ice cream!!!!!! I said with a chuckle, "YOU ARE BUSTED!!!" Probably not the best choice of words, but they just came out! I told them I wanted to get the camera and Gavin told me no pictures!!! So, I get the 2 spoons and ice cream and we head back into the kitchen. On the way out, we hear Gavin tell Connor, "I got you busted!!" That was hilarious!!! I guarantee you that Gavin was the ring leader on this one!!! FOR SURE!

Gavin was so sad to see his partner in crime leave, but Gavin had to head over to Pekai's since I had to work this afternoon.

Our fun day continues...

After Ian got out of school, we met Jessica, Luke and Ben at the bowling alley. The boys played one game and then did one arcade. They did a great job taking turns and enjoyed their time together! Jessica and I were trying to catch up on different things between keeping the kids in line, cheering them on and helping them out! Gosh...Jessica, we are great multi-taskers!!!
