Two more nights of swim lessons and then we'll get our evenings back, which means more time at home! Yay! The kids are doing great in them. Just the other day Gavin learned how to dive and Ian dove off the starting block. So, that was great to see. I've also learned to take a chair with a back to lessons and sit somewhat in comfort in the 100 degree heat for 2 hours. I'm tired of standing or sitting on benches while watching them swim!
This week the kids have been going to the same soccer camp. Gavin goes for 1/2 day, which actually ends at 11am. Ian goes until 4. I've been able to surprise Ian at the arcade room on campus at lunch, which has been nice. They are both learning a lot and I'm looking forward to our upcoming soccer season.
Cailean's parents are in town for a few days. I need to get my camera out and take pictures of the boys with them. Mission for tonight and tomorrow. We'll be headed for a nice drive over Jordan Lake tomorrow and then to a fun ice cream shop for lunch that we love!

Summer Fun
Here are some photos Cailean took with his new phone. The first picture is the Star Wars Concert that he took Ian to with some Y-Guides. They received a patch for their vests, if they attended this event. They liked it.
Cailean took them out to lunch after he and Gavin picked up Ian from baseball camp. They look way too innocent in this picture.
Coach talked to all the campers on the last day.
Ian spent at week at the Y flag football camp. On Friday (the last day) they invited the parents to watch the scrimmage. All Ian told us was that he was on the Jets. Little did we know they had him play a lot at the quarterback position during the week. I was impressed with his football ability. Good work Ian! He made some great throws and scored 2 touchdowns on his own.
The boys participated in VBS at St. Paul's in Cary. This was Ian's 4th year and Gavin's 2nd year. A few of their soccer friends belong to this church and invited the boys to attend this VBS. It's a great program and they have a lot of fun. On Friday (the last day) there was a little ceremony to show the parents the songs they had been working on with sign language and some dancing involved. My mom picked the boys up each day and on the last day...Cailean was in town from a work road trip and so she had "off." But, she surprised the boys and came for the ceremony!

A week went by
Sorry about that! Cailean was out of town fixing an engine on a plane and the kids and I were occupied with our crazy daily schedules of camp, work, swim lessons, taking care of house stuff and so on.
They attended VBS at St. Paul's again this summer and had a lot of fun, of course. They were with some of their sports buddies, so it was good they were able to see each other. Today there was an assembly to sing songs, do sign language and do a dance. Mom surprised the boys by attending. I snuck out of work to watch them and Cailean was there. Gavin actually participated!!! Ian always does for things like this, but Gavin gets nervous standing up in front of people. But, he did it! So proud of both of them.
Swim lessons are twice a week and they are going well. Ian's kick is getting better and his arms are looking good. Gavin is doing a great job as well.
Tonight we had dinner with two other families and it was nice to get together, chat and let the kids play! Love nights like tonight!

Camps, Swim Lessons and VBS
The boys went to Y Camps this week. Gavin went to 1/2 day camp and Ian went to full day Y camp. They were at different locations, which was interesting in the morning with the drop off procedures. It's Christmas week at Gavin's camp, so there will be a special visitor arriving at the Y this afternoon! He doesn't know it though. The Director posts video links and pictures of the kids and what they are doing in camp on a Hub. I love that idea.
Twice this week I've picked Ian up from camp too early (mind you...in the morning he tells me to get him early). I guess when I get there they are about to start dodge ball. This afternoon parents are invited to watch a scrimmage. I'm looking forward to that.
Two days a week for a month they are in swim lessons. Gavin doesn't mind it, but Ian does. However, he knows this is the way it is...so he has stopped complaining. They both have the same teachers, but they go back-to-back in times.
This week was also VBS at our church at night. This was Ian's 4th time and Gavin's 1st. Ian and I thought it would be a good idea if I was with Gavin's "family" and I can be with Ian's group next year. I was impressed with how well Gavin participated (when I'm with him he doesn't always do what the other kids do). You can see in this picture he is next to his buddy! Attached at the hip the entire week! I liked my "family" and had 7 kids in it. I just led them to the various activities. It's my favorite volunteer spot during VBS! I like having the loudest group! ;-) We have cheers going to the different stations. The kids love it and it shows a lot of spirit!

We're looking forward to dinner tonight with the Houcks and Allens!!!!!

Weekend Fun
Cailean and Ian went to the Durham Bulls game with some Y-Guides people and they were supposed to camp out in the outfield after the game. It turns out they stayed for the game and fireworks, but were sent home after due to thunderstorms coming into the area. The camp out has been rescheduled!
Gavin went to a birthday party on Saturday for one of his preschool friends. They hadn't seen each other since May, so they had a great time together. I have video clips of his 5 classmates in the bouncy house together laughing and playing. But, I didn't upload them yet!
There was an inflatable waterslide as well. You can see Gavin climbing up the ladder. He did the once and actually attempted a second time, but kept falling down and so he chose to go back to the bouncy house.

On Sunday we went to the airport to meet up with my best friend's dad and Alison. They flew into RDU and then were headed to High Point U, which is were Alison will attend college. It was a quick hello and goodbye, but great to catch them in NC!

Hey! Hopefully I'll be able to blog tonight. We're off to the races right now and Ian doesn't want to go. Ugh. Next year I'm taking all NCSU camps and putting them on the calendar first and then fill the rest of the weeks with other camps. He's not very happy this morning.
We saw Jim Marsden at the airport yesterday. We were at a bday party on Sat and Cailean and Ian went to the baseball game Fri night...didn't camp out and went to the movies on Sat.

Summer!!!
Last week Cailean took the boys on a bike ride and then went fishing at Bond Park. It was nice and cool on Friday and they took advantage of it.
Ian had so much fun last week at camp that we were able to sign him up again for this week. It's a 1/2 day camp, which is just perfect. He has definitely improved his hitting and throwing!
At the pool there is a 10 minute break each hour, so this is what we do during that break: lounge!
We take advantage of the outdoor pool during the summer months! The boys and I like to spend a few hours when we can to swim and swim and swim oh and lounge, too! I had to pull them out of the pool a little early this afternoon because I took them to get haircuts. They could have continue to swim for at least another hour.

We're in summer mode
The weather is perfect here! It's not as hot as it was the last few weeks, so we've enjoyed some time outside. The boys are doing really well with baseball and riding their bikes. They've been doing a great job reading and doing their summer homework with their workbooks, too.
Ian loved NCSU baseball camp so much that he asked to go back for this week, so I think I can get him in again. That would leave Gavin at Camp Mimi's alone again for 2 days this week, which he does not mind!
Cailean was in Arkansas last week for a training class and came home Thursday night. We wanted to go away for the holiday weekend, but with him returning and me barely keeping my head above water at work we chose to stay home. Working 5 days a week has been a challenging transition for me. I'm used to getting errands done on my "short work days" and now I'm doing them on the weekends or after I pick up the kids in the late afternoon. We booked a crazy July awhile back before I even know I was increasing my hours, so it'll be real interested in the next few weeks with camps, back into swim lessons at the end of the day with both kids twice a week and our work schedules.
At work our intern class (4 of them ) finished with us on June 30 and our new intern class started July 1. The first day of Summer Session 2 also started on July 1. So, it has been a real interesting week. I'm not in the "training mindset" yet for our new intern and it's just a rough transition with everything going on there. We'll get through it.
Today we went to Super Walmart to buy Ian's school supplies. I knew they were having a great sale on a bunch of items, so we took advantage of the sales. At least I have all that out of the way. We caught up on laundry, sheets, cleaning, etc and then we went to catch a scrimmage at the USA Baseball park in Cary (tryouts for 18U Nationals team), played catch there, dinner and then to the park in Morrisville to ride bikes/walk on the path and play at the park.
I'll write more later and hopefully post some pics of camp!
