I uploaded these pictures in the wrong order! Oh well. Anyway, this is the baby stroller cake I made for my coworker, Megan. We're having a baby shower luncheon at work Friday afternoon and of course, I needed to see what I could do for a cake! The "E" on the blanket stands for Emma. That will be her baby's name. Emma and Gavin will get to hang out at Pekai's on Mondays next year. Yup, they'll have the same babysitter.

Last Saturday afternoon we took Rob, Leslie, Max and Sam to the NCSU men's basketball game against Wake Forest. It was Cailean's first game of the season. I was thankful to get 8 tickets through work. On the way to our seats we ran into Mr. Wuf.

They sure did get into the game!

They really get into it and know what to do and when. It's great!

Three generations of the Turner boys!

We're headed to the circus Friday night with the Y-Guides. We have another packed Saturday. We'll be at a local park for a clean up with the Y-Guides in the morning. Then, off to Ian's basketball game. Then, we go to Monkey Joe's for Gavin's classmate's birthday party. Then, I have a bridal shower/bachelorette party for a coworker at night!

Updates

We'll let's see...some updates on the kiddos...

Ian is doing great in school and he still claims he doesn't like to go. He does enjoy Wednesdays because I volunteer, he has PE and he gets out 1 hour earlier than the other days. He amazes us with what he knows and what he is willing to try. He continues to grow about five inches a day...I swear! He enjoys playing basketball and has tried to bounce the ball as he walks through his legs! He is working on his layups and enjoys shooting and passing. He just loves the game in general! Ian will be playing baseball with the Town of Morrisville this spring and we're looking forward to no more t-ball!!! He continues to enjoy Y-Guides with Cailean and we'll be going to the Circus this Friday with some from his tribe. They are hosting the next tribe meeting in March, so Cailean has been getting ready for that. Yes, 10 kids and 10 dads downstairs. I'll be at the PTA meeting that night!

Gavin can be quite the clown and can be very talkative! The phrases that comes out of his mouth makes us laugh! He knows when to be good (like in school!!!) and when he can goof off! He enjoys school soooo much and it has been a great year for him. He is beyond excited that he gets to play soccer this season with the Town of Morrisville. It's hard to believe it's his turn. He enjoys checking up on my grandparents on Tuesday afternoons and likes to be with mom during Ian's basketball practice.

We continue to keep a busy schedule, but we also find time to hang at home. We've started to plan trips and camps and swim lessons and all that fun stuff for the summer. I have to remind myself that Cailean and I continue to keep our work scheduled during the summer, too. LOL

We've started planning our trip to Disney over spring break!!!!!

Us

We've actually had a pretty low-key beginning of the week for us! When Cailean came home from work on Monday, he noticed my tire was flat and patched it. Phew. Then, we all piled into the truck and headed to a few stores to get some craft items for a Y-Guides group project and a new car seat. We were not in luck with the car seat, but we were with the crafts. We went to the Loop for dinner (love love coupons) and then home.

Gavin is moving into a booster seat since he surpassed the 40 pound mark (by 2 ounces). So, he has a regular seat belt on him for the truck, but we haven't changed my car yet. He is loving it. Ian, on the other hand, made it clear he is concerned that Gavin will try to unbuckle his seatbelt. Yes, that would be Ian worrying. But, we talked to Ian about it and how we can all help Gavin.

Cailean took yesterday off from work, so he could be a chaperone on Ian's field trip to Marbles Museum and IMAX Theatre. Then, we had basketball practice and I'm very excited for our game this Saturday! Go Armadillos!!!!!!

Gavin and I have started a new Wednesday afternoon outing. We're starting storytime back up at the library. It's at 2pm and then we go to pick up Ian at 2:45 for early release on Wednesdays. So, it works out. It's great for Gavin!

Tonight I'm having some friends over to help make some Teacher Appreciation items for Ian's school. I won't say what it is because some Kingswood teachers read this blog. LOL

We are looking forward to an awesome weekend with sunshine! Saturday will be a full day that includes dropping off Pajama Pals items, Ian's basketball game, going to the NC State game with the Reid family and then finishing up at Jellybeans with Kingswood for a fundraiser (roller skating rink). Sunday is church, Sunday School and then Ian has tryouts for West Raleigh Baseball!!!!

Snow and Shower

Okay, so my pictures are not in order as they happened! Cailean went to work on Wednesday and then was sent to SC to fix a plane. Not a good day to go on a roadtrip since Thursdays and Fridays he takes care of the kids because those are my long days at work. So, we had to rearrange some things and Gavin spent the day with Pekai on Thursday.

Friday night it started SNOWING!!!! Because of our one inch of snow Ian's basketball game was canceled on Saturday and his baseball tryouts for Sunday. ARGH!!!! Since it was Valentine's Weekend, I made them pink heart-shaped pancakes Saturday morning for breakfast and then we went outside to build a snowman. Gavin was hard at work.

We had to take the annual pose by the bushes. Last year's pic turned out a little better because you could see the red berries on the tree. But these faces are too cute!!!!

Ian shoveled the driveway with his dad. He definitely is a big helper around the house.

Gavin made this Valentine's hat at school last week. He asked me to take a picture of him.

On Friday a couple parents from Ian's class and I had put together a surprise baby shower for Mrs. Harris. She is due the first week of March, so we chose Friday as the big day. We made 6 stations:

1. snack station and deliver their Valentine's Day cards

2. pick a number and then make a birthday card for that year

3. used rubber stamps and stamped on a onesie

4. guessed what was in 3 "dirty" diapers and practiced putting a diaper on a doll

5. wrote a letter to the baby

6. guessed the birthdate, name, gender, length, weight, etc.

The kids came back from music a few minutes early and when she walked in the door they jumped up and down yelling, "SURPRISE!!!!"

Mrs. Harris with her first grade class this year. We'll miss her when she is on maternity leave!

A picture of our front yard area on Saturday morning. It was nice seeing the snow on the trees, but some of the snow is still here and it's Sunday night as I type this. I'm actually ready for Spring now.

Where did the week go?

Tuesday was definitely not my favorite day this week. My dad ended up with an emergency surgery and had his appendix removed. With no family living in Vermont, he relies heavily on his friends and they came through. Matt and I made some contacts to get his driveway taken care of and food sent to him. He kept saying how thrilled he was when he received so many phone calls. So, thanks everyone!

Cailean left on Wednesday afternoon to South Carolina to fix a plane. I can't stand it when he says, "It won't take that long. It's pretty easy." That seems to always turn into something bigger than expected. So yes...it's Thursday night and he is still there. He better get home in the middle of the night!!

I took Gavin to a new library (for us anyway) in Cary for storytime Wednesday afternoon. He did okay, but it is definitely something that we'll need to be regulars at because it will help him out a lot! We had to leave a few minutes early, so we were not late picking up Ian from school.

We met Connor and Justin at WiiiBounce and they had a blast there. I think we stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and then we had to run some errands, so Chick-fil-A was calling our names for dinner. I ordered them adult meals and they ate everything!

Today was a different day since I had to get Gavin to the sitter and Ian to school before heading to work. I was expecting Cailean home during the day, but that didn't happen. So, I picked up the kids at the end of the day and then stopped in to visit my grandparents since mom was working late tonight. We came home to do some homework and then found ourselves at The Loop for dinner. ARGH. It seems like when Cailean is on a roadtrip, I take the kids out. Not sure if I am jealous that Cailean is eating out or because the boys and I have so much fun out and about and we call them "adventures."

I'm excited for Ian's basketball game this Saturday at 12 and then we take all the books and pjs we've collected to the lady's house! Ian is going to play baseball this Sunday afternoon at tryouts with the West Raleigh Baseball league. Cross your fingers!

A week in review

Cailean's parents arrived last Monday and stayed with us for about a week. I think they were pretty excited that the boys were home from school on Tuesday and Wednesday along with a 1 hour delay on Thursday due to our 4 inches of snow and some ice. LOL

Cailean had all four of his wisdom teeth out on Thursday morning. The procedure went fine and I would never pass any nursing class. I did not do well when we got home and I attempted to change the gauze in his mouth. I became very light-headed and had to sit down a few times. hahahaha So, it was a good thing that his mom was here because she took over. I couldn't look at Cailean's mouth or I probably would have passed out!!!!

Gavin had his FOUR YEAR check up with Dr. Mann on Friday afternoon. He weighed in at 40lbs 2oz and is 42 inches tall. That puts him in the 75% for weight and 80% for height. Dr. Mann was very impressed with the little guy even though Gavin was playing Mr. Shy!

Saturday morning Ian's basketball team had a doubleheader! We had an 8am game and then we got to play at 9am or the other team wouldn't have a game. I only had 3 kids on the team who had to go to school (year round schools had to make up one of the snow days on Saturday). The kids played a lot of basketball and were awesome!!! I was very impressed with how well Ian plays on the team. :)
